SQUAMISH, B.C. — A head-on collision involving a packed charter bus has sent one man to hospital and closed down a busy British Columbia coastal highway.

Squamish RCMP say a man was seriously injured when the vehicle he was driving collided with a Pacific Coach Lines bus along the Sea-to-Sky Highway, between Vancouver and Whistler.

The Mounties say 50 people were on the bus at the time but there are no reports of additional injuries.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday and left the larger vehicle blocking traffic in the southbound lane.

Police aren't able to say when the busy highway would reopen.
