Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall Not Interested In Becoming Federal Tory Leader

The Canadian Press, 27 May, 2016 11:16 AM
REGINA — Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall says he is flattered by a push to have him run to become the next federal Conservative leader, but he has no interest in the job.

A group called Brad Wall For Prime Minister is circulating an open letter to Tories meeting in Vancouver for the party's annual convention.

The letter says the party needs someone who can grow the party and defeat the Justin Trudeau Liberals in 2019.

The letter asks party members if they know of any other Conservative in Canada today who could win over a majority of voters.

The group is also seeking support for its draft Wall movement on a website BradWallforPM.ca, on Twitter and on Facebook.

Wall, who won another majority government in the Saskatchewan election last month, says he enjoys being premier and has no interest in federal politics now or in the future.

"It is flattering and it is humbling. I have the job that I would like to continue to have for awhile," Wall said Thursday.

"I am honoured to have this job — to be the premier of Saskatchewan and I have no interest in any other job."
