Road Rage Incident Ends In Fiery Crash In Mississauga, Ont.

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 23 Sep, 2016 12:13 PM
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Ontario police are looking for suspects after a road rage incident between a group of motorcyclists and the occupants of a car led to an assault and a fiery crash near Toronto.

Provincial police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says the incident occurred just before midnight on Thursday as the driver of a car tried to get around motorcyclists who had blocked Highway 401 in Mississauga, Ont.

He says an argument ensued and ended when a motorcyclist allegedly damaged the vehicle.

Both the car and the group of motorcyclists got off the highway where a woman got out of the car and was allegedly assaulted by a motorcyclist.

Schmidt says the car's driver took off with motorcyclists in pursuit, leaving the woman behind with minor injuries.

He says the car then crashed into a retaining wall and burst into flames, but the driver was able to escape with minor injuries.

Police have charged the car's driver with dangerous driving and possession of drugs and are still looking for the motorcyclists who were involved.

Schmidt says the motorcyclists behaved similarly to a massive group of bikers that swarmed Mississauga streets two weeks ago. In that incident, one of the bikes crashed and burst into flames, but the rider fled the scene.

Despite the similar behaviours, Schmidt says police have no connection between the two groups at this point.
