Road closure in the area of 140th Street in Surrey due to residential fire

Darpan News Desk Surrey RCMP, 20 Oct, 2022 10:07 AM
  • Road closure in the area of 140th Street in Surrey due to residential fire

Surrey RCMP is advising the public of road closures as a result of a residential fire.

On Thursday morning just before 8:00 a.m. a police officer discovered a residential fire in the 14000-block of 100A Avenue while passing through the area. Surrey Fire Service was notified and police worked quickly to evacuate neighboring residences.  Multiple persons have been displaced as a result of this fire. At this time, no injuries have been reported.

Surrey RCMP Arson Unit, General Investigation Unit and the Fire Inspector are all on scene working to determine the cause of the fire. The investigation is in the early stages, but initial indications are that the fire may have originated in an abandoned house and spread to the neighboring residence.

Traffic in the area will be impacted as 140 Street is closed in both direction between 100 Avenue and 102 Avenue. The closure will remain in place for an undetermined amount of time while first responders remain on scene.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP.
