Richmond RCMP are looking for witnesses after dealing with an irate male was smashing vehicles and threatening people near the onramp to Hwy 99 at Steveston Hwy. 

The incident took place at approximately 4pm on Wednesday. 

Mounties say initial reports alleged the man was throwing a compressed air tank at vehicles and threatening bystanders. 

Upon arrival, frontline officers encountered an extremely irate man who threatened to use the metal tank as a weapon against them. 

The 56 year-old Richmond man was subsequently arrested under the Mental Health Act and taken to a local hospital. 

The investigation remains on going. 

Criminal charges may be considered at a later date.
