Richmond Police Seeking Public's Assistance In Locating Owner Of Capsized Boat

Darpan, 25 Jul, 2016 12:54 PM
Richmond, BC: Richmond RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in locating the owner of a capsized boat located yesterday evening by the Canadian Coast Guard.

The 10-foot capsized boat was located at Gravesend Reach (5400 block of Dyke Road), in Richmond.

It was determined that the kill switch on the boat's outboard motor was dislodged, indicating that a boater may have fallen off the boat. Personal items were located by police, floating around the boat. There was Korean food packaging and a Korean first aid kit on the boat, indicating that the owner of the boat may be of Korean descent.

Police immediately launched a search of the area with the assistance of the Canadian Coast Guard and conducted an ariel search of surrounding islands in case someone swam to shore. Investigators have been pursuing a number of investigative avenues to identify the owner of the boat but have so far been unable to do so.

Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating the owner of this boat. The boat is described as a 10-foot boat with the word "Riviera" in red lettering. It has a white hull, black bottom, with teal stripes on the bow. It has a single outboard "Tohatsu" 9.8hp 4 stroke engine.

Anyone who has any information about this incident or the owner of the boat is asked to contact Richmond RCMP at (604)278-1212.
