VANCOUVER — British Columbia's premier says it's too soon to say who should be held accountable for the death a young man in government care.
Christy Clark initially said the agency in charge of 18-year-old Alex Gervais made a "real mistake" by not informing the Children's Ministry that he'd been staying alone in a hotel for two months.
Gervais fell from a fourth-floor window of an Abbotsford hotel on Sept. 18, and children's representative Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond has said it's believed he killed himself.
Opposition New Democrat Leader John Horgan has called on Children's Minister Stephanie Cadieux to resign but Clark has accused him of using the case to score political points.
The premier now says the only way to find some answers is through a review of the case, which the Children's Ministry is conducting.
She also says the ministry is trying to identify which children in government care are most at risk.
