Return of stolen e-bicycle to its owner an unexpected and meaningful surprise

Darpan News Desk Richmond RCMP, 25 Nov, 2021 10:44 AM
  • Return of stolen e-bicycle to its owner an unexpected and meaningful surprise

Richmond RCMP General Investigation Section surprise owner with return of stolen e-bicycle after executing a search warrant on a residence in Richmond.

On November 16, 2021 Richmond RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) were executing a search warrant on a Richmond residence when they located and recovered a stolen e-bicycle from an unrelated file. The e-bicycle was reported stolen on October 10, 2021 from a building in the 6000 block of Minoru Blvd following an alleged break and enter to a bike locker.

On November 22, officers from Richmond GIS were able to return it to a very happy citizen.

In speaking with the man, our officers learned he had only owned it for 3 days before it was allegedly stolen, says Corporal Adriana O’Malley, Richmond RCMP Media Relations Officer.

He also went on to tell the officers that he never expected to see his bike again so he was absolutely delighted when the call came from police.

Seeing how much this e-bicycle means to the man and how its return impacts him, reminds our officers why we work so hard everyday to serve our community, says Corporal O’Malley, Every time we recover and return an item to its rightful owner it’s a win for the community.

In order to protect the integrity of the on-going and active GIS investigation, specific details about the search warrant will not be provided at this time.
