  • Remembrance Day poppy box stolen from A&W in New Westminster

New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Department is seeking witnesses to a theft of a Remembrance Day poppy box, days before Remembrance Day.

The theft occurred inside the A&W restaurant on November 8th, 2021 at approximately 9:00 pm in the 800 block of Boyd Street.

Police believe there may have been other customers in the restaurant who witnessed the theft. Witnesses were unable to get a description of the suspect but believe he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

“It’s disgraceful and disheartening that someone would steal donations that support our veterans,” stated Sergeant Kumar. “If anyone saw who took the donation box we ask you to reach out to us.”

Anyone who has information on the theft is asked to contact the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
