Remains Found After Search Of Vancouver Island Property Belong To Victoria Man

The Canadian Press, 17 Jun, 2015 12:46 PM
VICTORIA — Remains found during a 12-day police search in rural Saanich, B.C., have been identified by the coroner's service.

Victoria Police Insp. Keith Linder says they are those of Dana McKellar, who was reported missing by his family last September.

Linder says it's a bittersweet ending to an investigation to locate McKellar's remains because it's difficult for the man's family to let go of their hopes that he was still alive.

Police have said McKellar had been assaulted in July.

Three police departments began searching the three-hectare property on June 2.

Police must now determine how the 51-year-old Victoria father died and who is responsible.
