Regina Sikhs Convey Christmas Wishes; Get A Lot Of Positive Attention

The Canadian Press, 23 Dec, 2015 12:09 PM
REGINA — The Sikh Society of Regina is getting into the spirit of Christmas.

A sign standing outside the society's office is wishing passersby a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Kuldip Sahota, president of the society, believes it's vital to keep Christmas as Christmas.

He says it's important for all religions and cultures to respect one another's beliefs and practices.

He also says taking part in all celebrations in the community is important.

Sahota points out that the spirit of his religion conveys the same message that Christians focus on this time of year.

"It's time to wish everybody peace, love, joy on Earth, so everyone can live together in harmony," Sahota said. "All these messages are the Sikhism message also."
