RCMP In Port Alberni Make Quick Arrest After Man Hurt In Early-Morning Stabbing

The Canadian Press, 02 Nov, 2016 12:25 PM
PORT ALBERNI, B.C. — One man has been seriously injured in a stabbing on Vancouver Island.

RCMP say the 51-year-old Port Alberni man was in a fast food restaurant in that city at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday when he was repeatedly stabbed.

The unnamed victim has been airlifted to a hospital in Victoria and is listed in serious but stable condition.

Cpl. Amelia Hayden says the 25-year-old suspect escaped, but was taken into custody about two hours later.

He is expected to appear in court on Thursday.

Hayden says investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the stabbing or whether the two men knew each other.
