RCMP In Kamloops, B.C., Probe Suspected Targeted Shooting That Claims One Life

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 22 Sep, 2017 11:34 AM
KAMLOOPS, B.C. — RCMP in Kamloops, B.C., are investigating what they say appears to be a targeted, fatal shooting.

Witnesses report hearing numerous shots outside a Kamloops home at about 7:30 Thursday evening.

Police say two men were hit and one was dead by the time officers arrived, while the second is expected to recover.

Konaam Shirzad, 34, was found dead on Hudson's Bay Trail at 7:20 p.m., according to RCMP.

Police said that another 28-year-old man was also found with non-life threatening injuries and taken to hospital.

Corp. Jodi Shelkie says both victims are known to police and she says often gangs are involved when a shooting is targeted.

Police do not believe the public is at risk.

Investigators are urging witnesses to come forward if they saw two people who ran from the area after the shooting. (CHNL, CFJC)
