LANGLEY, B.C. - The RCMP are asking for the public's help as homicide investigators piece together what happened in the hours leading up to a man's death in Langley, B.C., on Christmas Eve.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says RCMP were called to the 2900 block of 224 St. just after 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday, where 67-year-old Dennis Johnston was found unresponsive.
Officers attempted to revive Johnston, but he was pronounced dead.
Police say one person at the scene was initially taken into custody before being released.
Investigators say they believe it was an isolated incident unrelated to gang conflict in the Lower Mainland.
Detective Lara Jansen says Johnston attended a social gathering earlier in the day and IHIT is encouraging anyone who was at that event to come forward.
“We urge anyone who was with Mr. Johnston or has details of his activities prior to his death to speak with investigators,” said Detective Lara Jansen of IHIT. “We know Mr. Johnston was at a social gathering earlier in the day on Christmas Eve and encourage those who were there or saw him there to come forward.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
