RCMP charge Montreal boy, 15, with terror-related charges

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 04 Dec, 2014 10:42 AM

MONTREAL — A 15-year-old Montreal boy appeared in court Wednesday to face terrorism-related charges.

The RCMP alleges the teenager had committed a robbery at the direction of and for the benefit of an unspecified terrorist organization.

The Mounties also say the unidentified youth also wished to leave Canada to participate in the activities of a terrorist group abroad.

Given the age of the accused and the ongoing investigation, the RCMP said they could not comment further.

Assistant Commissioner James Malizia said in a news release that the RCMP continues to "tirelessly" pursue those who seek to participate in terrorist activities."

He said the police force is determined to intervene to protect Canadians.
