Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for northwest and coastal regions of the province.
The warning covers the northern coast, as well as Haida Gwaii and inland regions including Kitimat, Stewart and Terrace.
It says a strong storm will bring between 50 and 100 millimetres of heavy rain that is expected to intensify today.
The agency is warning people about possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts as flooding is possible in low-lying areas.
Crackdowns on short-term rentals in British Columbia have effectively reduced rents by 5.7 per cent, saving tenants more than $600 million last year, says a report led by the Canada Research Chair in Urban Governance at McGill University. He says the nurse-to-patient ratios have been determined for more hospital settings, including emergency departments, maternity units and operating rooms.
