Quebec Government Tables Bill To Create Provincial Registry For All Firearms

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 03 Dec, 2015 11:24 AM
  • Quebec Government Tables Bill To Create Provincial Registry For All Firearms
QUEBEC — The Quebec government has announced it will create a provincial registry for all firearms.

Public Security Minister Pierre Moreau said today each gun in Quebec will have its own number.

He said information on every gun in the province will be entered into a database.

The bill also requires gun-selling companies to create a tracking system for their stock of firearms.

Moreau said the bill includes criminal penalties for those found guilty of violating its provisions.

Quebec had promised to create its own gun-tracking system after the previous Conservative government abolished the federal long-gun registry in 2012.
