Province to launch website to seek public input on South Asian museum

The B-C government says it will launch a website to seek public input on a new museum that would highlight the history, culture and contributions of South Asian heritages in the province.

Lana Popham, minister of tourism, arts, culture and sport, says public input, especially from South Asian communities, is vital to creating a first-of-its-kind museum.

The province says community-designed workshops and an online public survey will begin early next year.

It says the public engagement process will be informed by Simon Fraser University’s Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue along with an advisory committee made up of appointed members who identify as South Asian

A Statistics Canada study into what it calls the "bank of mom and dad" shows home ownership among young high earners in British Columbia increases more than anywhere else in Canada if their parents are homeowners, too.
