  • Province opens new substance-use treatment beds Surrey & Vancouver

The provincial government has opened 24 new substance-use treatment beds in two facilities in Surrey and Vancouver to help young adults living with addictions get access to more recovery services.

Mental Health and Addictions Minister Jennifer Whiteside says 18 of the beds have been added at the Phoenix Society in Surrey and six at the Covenant House in Vancouver.

The beds in Surrey are for men in the province between 17 and 24-years old -- with an average stay of three to six months.

Meanwhile, the new beds in Covenant House are there to serve youth and young adults and the length of stay depends on their needs.
