The province is offering 500-thousand dollars in grants for programs or plans aimed at helping seniors lead independent, active lives.
Applications open June 1st for the age-friendly grants, which can be as much as 25-thousand dollars each.
Last year, 25 communities received funding from the program.

The city says designated swim areas at eight beaches will be patrolled from 11:30 a-m to 8:30 p-m daily. The hours will change later in the summer as the sun sets earlier.
