Premiers All Want More Federal Dollars For Health Care, But Differ On Approach

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 22 Jul, 2016 12:06 PM
WHITEHORSE — Premiers say they're united on the need for more health-care cash from Ottawa.

But the 13 territorial and provincial leaders are divided on how many strings they're willing to accept.

Health care is expected to be a major topic on the final day of the premiers meeting in Whitehorse..

Saskatchewan's Brad Wall says provinces are willing to talk about directing money to federal priorities if Ottawa agrees to meet their overall funding goal of 25 per cent

But Philippe Couillard of Quebec says his province is opposed to any targeted funding.

An agreement on internal trade had been expected to come out of the meeting, but that is looking less likely.
