Premier Christy Clark Sends Greetings For Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas

Darpan News Desk, 24 Oct, 2016 01:48 PM
Premier Christy Clark issued the following statement to mark Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas:

“In the coming days, Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist and other communities will celebrate Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, and Bandi Chhor Divas.

“These ancient festivals symbolize the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, and shared traditions include lighting clay lamps called diyas, watching fireworks displays, and sharing meals, gifts and sweets with friends, families and those in need.

“As British Columbians of all backgrounds participate in festive celebrations, we have an occasion to recognize and take pride in our province’s rich cultural diversity.

“On behalf of all British Columbians, I extend my best wishes to everyone celebrating Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas.”
