VICTORIA – Premier Christy Clark issued the following statement to mark the anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of the Sikh religion:

“Today marks the  547th anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru.

Spreading messages of hard work, equality, social justice, community service and compassion, Sikhism has grown to become one of the world’s largest religions.

“On behalf of all British Columbians, I extend my best wishes to everyone commemorating the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.”
