Prabhraj Rai charged with fraud over $5K

Mounties in Surrey say they've laid fraud charges against 34-year-old man, Prabhraj Rai, who allegedly duped people in real estate investment deals.

Surrey R-C-M-P say their financial crimes unit investigated the alleged fraud spanning from 2015 to 2021 after a victim came forward claiming they lost millions of dollars in real estate investment opportunities.

Police say Raj allegedly committed large-scale financial fraud and was arrested and charged with fraud over five-thousand dollars.

Mounties say the man has been released on conditions pending his next court appearance.

Police in Port Moody are investigating after arresting a 15-year-old who allegedly brandished a knife while chasing another teen through a crowd of students at a busy bus stop. Victoria Police warn pedestrians of cougar roaming near downtown

Police are warning pedestrians about an adult cougar roaming near downtown Victoria, telling them to avoid the area this morning. Victoria Police say on social media the cougar was spotted near Jutland Road and Dunedin Street, near the Victoria waterfront and north of the downtown core.
