Prabhraj Rai charged with fraud over $5K

Mounties in Surrey say they've laid fraud charges against 34-year-old man, Prabhraj Rai, who allegedly duped people in real estate investment deals.

Surrey R-C-M-P say their financial crimes unit investigated the alleged fraud spanning from 2015 to 2021 after a victim came forward claiming they lost millions of dollars in real estate investment opportunities.

Police say Raj allegedly committed large-scale financial fraud and was arrested and charged with fraud over five-thousand dollars.

Mounties say the man has been released on conditions pending his next court appearance.

On August 26th at approximately 5:00am patrol officers responded to a call about a suspicious car parked on Churchill Street. When officers attended, they could see a male sleeping in the driver’s seat.
