Portrait Of Canada-Based Sikh Scholar Dr Raghbir Singh Bains Installed At Central Sikh Museum

    The picture of Canada-based noted Sikh scholar and community activist Dr Raghbir Singh Bains was installed at Central Sikh Museum on August 24

     

    Dr. Bains was renowned for producing first multimedia encyclopedia of Sikhism, setting up the first multimedia Sikh museum at Khadoor Sahib and making efforts to create awareness about AIDS, drugs and other social evils by preaching about evils around the Indian sub-continent.

    His extensive work bestowed this pioneer with prestigious honours, some of which include Order of BC, Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, The Sikh Award in Education and more than 60 local, national and international awards.

     

    In Canada and beyond, his work impacted the lives of many as a volunteer, activist and educator. “I started volunteering by cleaning the smelling streets of my village at the age of 10. These days I am not cleaning the smelling streets, but cleaning the smelling societies,” he stated in his 2015 interview.

    It was honour for DARPAN magazine to confer Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains with the Community Crusader award in 2014.

     

    During the last years of his life, Dr. Bains was working on a cyber school that would give free coaching to students on topics such as English and Maths as well as drug addiction.
