A driver has been arrested in Port Moody after police say he tried to grab an officer's sidearm during a sobriety check.
Port Moody police say the incident happened last night in the 26-hundred block of Saint Johns Street, when officers made a traffic stop to check on the sobriety of a driver.
Police say the man's samples exceeded the legal limit and resulted in a 90-day driving ban, but he then became hostile and was arrested for public intoxication.
Police say the man allegedly tried to take one of the arresting officers' sidearm while fighting the arrest, and charges including assault have been recommended in the case.
