Police vehicle rammed in Walmart

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 17 Dec, 2024 02:11 PM
  • Police vehicle rammed in Walmart

A man who rammed a police vehicle in the Walmart parking lot in Quesnel was tracked down with a police dog last night.

R-C-M-P say they received a report of a stolen vehicle yesterday and officers found it at Walmart with the suspect still inside.

The driver got away by running the stolen vehicle into the police cruiser, but the R-C-M-P later received a report of the vehicle going off the road and the man leaving on foot.

The dog tracked the suspect to a barricaded shed, where police arrested the 30-year-old who they say was supposed to be on electronic monitoring, but had removed his ankle device.

Police in British Columbia say a June school bus crash followed by the death of a pedestrian was a "tragic accident" triggered when the 60-year-old bus driver suffered a medical event. Cpl. Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol says the evidence shows there was no criminality involved in the crash near Lac La Hache in the B.C. Interior, in which many children on the bus were hurt.
