Police Seek Deadly Cafe Shooting Suspect North Of Toronto

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 25 Jun, 2015 12:58 PM
VAUGHAN, Ont. — Police have released security video images of a suspect and vehicle in a cafe shooting north of Toronto that left two people dead and two others seriously injured.

York Regional Police Const. Andy Pattenden says after reviewing surveillance footage it appears a man got out of a car Wednesday morning and walked into the Moka cafe in Vaughan, Ont., "with purpose."

He would not comment on whether any of the victims were targeted, saying police are looking at all possibilities and keeping an open mind.

Maria Voci, 47, and Christopher Desimone, 24, were found dead inside the strip mall cafe.

Pattenden says a third victim is still in critical condition, while the other surviving victim is expected to live.

He says the suspect is a black man about 5-foot-10, who was wearing a grey, hooded sweatshirt and a mask covering his face.

Police say the suspect fled the scene after 8:18 a.m. on Islington Avenue south of Highway 7 in a dark-coloured compact car, heading southbound on Islington Avenue.

Investigators are asking for anyone in the area around the time of the shooting to contact them.
