Police Say Three Pulled From Vehicle In B.C., May Be Victims Of Carbon Monoxide

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 28 Dec, 2018 03:30 AM

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — A woman and two children have been rushed to hospital in Greater Vancouver following a suspected case of carbon-monoxide poisoning.

The Abbotsford Police Department says the three were found in a vehicle in a rural area of Abbotsford at about 8:30 p.m. on Boxing Day after what is described as a single-vehicle collision.

Sgt. Judy Bird confirmed by email that the collision occurred at slow speed as the vehicle rolled into a fence, but everyone in the car was found unconscious.

"The three remain in hospital. It is not believed that they will be released today," Bird said in the email.

She could not update the conditions of any of the victims early Thursday.

Although the adult and children are believed to have been overcome by the odourless, colourless gas, Bird said it would be "quite some time" before there would be an update on a vehicle inspection that could determine how they were exposed.

Investigators have not named the victims or said how they may be related.

Officers remain at the scene and Bird said police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the vehicle before it rolled to a stop.
