Police Say Sex Offender Who Targeted Children In Surrey Moving To Delta

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 28 Apr, 2015 11:22 AM
  • Police Say Sex Offender Who Targeted Children In Surrey Moving To Delta
DELTA, B.C. — Police say a high-risk sex offender who has targeted children is moving to Delta, B.C.

Officers say 40-year-old James Conway has a criminal history including sexual assault and arson damaging property.

BC Corrections describes Conway as a predator who has maintained a pattern of sexual offences against young girls.

Acting Sgt. Sarah Swallow says Conway has now been released from custody under a number of court-ordered conditions and is under house arrest.

She says Conway will be monitored and is not allowed to leave his home unless he is accompanied by a case worker.

His 24 conditions include not wearing any uniforms, including police, firefighter and security uniforms, or any patch or insignia that represents these occupations.

Police spokeswoman Anne Drennan says the 40-year-old boarded a bus in Surrey and alleges he sat down on a double seat beside a 14-year-old girl, even though other seats were available at the time.

She says Transit Police arrested him without incident for allegedly breaching the two conditions.

Conway was jailed for breaching conditions last year after a SkyTrain passenger reported that he was talking to and staring down the shirts of young girls.
