Police Say Alcohol Likely Involved In Collision That Killed Cyclist On Gaglardi Way

    Burnaby RCMP continues to investigate the tragic collision involving a cyclist on Gaglardi Way.

     

    On June 29, 2019, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Burnaby RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a motor vehicle and a cyclist. The cyclist, a 53-year-old male, died at the scene from the injuries sustained in the collision.


    The alleged vehicle, a black Jeep Cherokee SUV, did not remain at the scene of the collision however it was located a short time later on University High Street and Tower Road where the driver was arrested.


    It is early in the investigation however it is believed that alcohol was a contributing factor in this incident.


    The investigation is ongoing and charges have not yet been laid.


    Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigative Team would specifically like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision, have dash cam footage or may have witnessed the driving behaviour of the vehicle prior to the collision.
