Police response probed after B.C. woman hurt

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 05 Oct, 2020 08:45 PM
  • Police response probed after B.C. woman hurt

B.C.'s police watchdog has been to the southern Interior community of Chase, where a young woman was seriously injured last Friday after jumping from a bridge.

The Independent Investigations Office says the same woman had jumped in front of a vehicle in the area shortly before, but was not hurt.

The driver of the vehicle reported it to police and an officer went to the area.

A statement from the office says an RCMP officer was able to track her down and speak with her, but she was not detained.

It says she leaped from the bridge a few minutes later. The statement from the office says an investigation will determine what role, if any, RCMP actions or inactions may have had in the case.
