Police Looking For Kia Optima In Vancouver Hit-And-Run That Seriously Injured 2 People

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 22 Mar, 2019 08:14 PM

Vancouver Police are appealing to the driver who fled after hitting two pedestrians early Monday morning to come forward.

Shortly after midnight, the two pedestrians were crossing Fraser Street near East 20th Avenue when they were struck by a northbound vehicle on Fraser Street. The driver did not stay at the scene.

A 25-year-old woman from Surrey, and a 35-year-old man from Vancouver, were rushed to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The woman has since been released from hospital while the man remains in serious condition.

Evidence collected at the scene suggests that the outstanding vehicle is a grey or silver, 2014 or 2015 Kia Optima Hybrid Electric car. It will most likely have front-end damage, including a possible cracked headlight lens on the passenger side.

“Based on the evidence collected so far, we believe the driver should be aware that they hit the pedestrians,” says Sergeant Jason Robillard, VPD. “We are appealing to the driver to do the right thing and come forward.”

Anyone, including body shop employees, who may have information about this collision, or who knows the location of the vehicle, is asked to contact police at 604-717-3012 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
