  • Police investigating shooting in Downtown New Westminster, 2 in custody

On Tuesday, at approximately noon, New Westminster Police responded to a shooting that occurred in the 700 block of Carnarvon Street.

The response prompted a large police presence at the Royal Columbian Hospital.

A man is being treated for non-life threatening injuries and two suspects are in police custody.

The Major Crime Unit has since taken conduct of this investigation.

Surrey man dies in an attempted armed robbery
Shortly after 7 a.m., in the area of 142A St and 87A Ave, a Surrey RCMP Frontline officer located a man matching the description of the suspect and a foot pursuit ensued. During the course of the foot pursuit there was a confrontation and the police officer fired their weapon striking the man. First-aid was provided and he was transported to hospital where he later died.
