Police in Abbotsford are investigating a fire at a home which according to them is suspicious and targeted.

On Saturday, at 1am, officials were called to a home at 3030 Trethewey Street and residents inside the home were evacuated safely. 

Via release, police say "As a result of the preliminary investigation, this fire is being treated as suspicious,".

The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation which is in its early stages. 

Abbotsford Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage from the area of Trethewey Street and Maclure Road, and between Gladwin and Clearbrook roads before or after the incident to contact them. Witnesses who have not yet spoken to investigators are also urged to call 604-859-5225.

At 6:30 Wednesday evening, the 29-year-old woman was walking near Cambie and Pender streets when a man approached and suddenly lashed out. He punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground. The suspect was last seen running west on Dunsmuir Street.

Upon arrival, emergency service workers located a three-vehicle collision. One of the drivers was found suffering from serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital, but sadly succumbed to his injuries.
