Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 12 Oct, 2015 10:48 PM
SALT SPRING ISLAND, B.C. — Police are investigating after a body was found in a creek on Salt Spring Island.

RCMP say a recreational fisherman reported finding a man's body near Fulford Harbour around 6 p.m. Saturday.

Sgt. George Jenkins of the Salt Spring Island RCMP says in a release that the cause of the man's death is not yet known and police cannot confirm whether foul play was involved.

Jenkins adds that there is no evidence to suggest residents of the Island are at risk.

Salt Spring RCMP, the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit and the BC Coroners Service are all investigating, and an area near where the body was located remains blocked off by police tape.

RCMP say the man's next of kin have been notified, but his identify is not yet being released.
