Police In Grenada Search For New Brunswick Woman Who Disappeared While Jogging

The Canadian Press, 08 Dec, 2015 11:28 AM
ST. GEORGE'S, Grenada — Police in Grenada are searching the small Caribbean island for a missing woman from New Brunswick who disappeared while out jogging with her dog.

Assistant Supt. Sylvan McIntyre of the Royal Grenada Police Force says all of their units are involved in the search for Linnea Veinotte, who was reported missing at about 8 a.m. Sunday.

He says the family dog was found lying on the side of the road after being struck by a car and they believe Veinotte was taken by someone driving a dark coloured vehicle in what he described as an affluent neighbourhood.

McIntyre says witnesses reported hearing the screech of tires before an impact and officers found blood at the scene, but none of the subsequent tips have helped locate Veinotte.

He says the car would have damage to the front, possibly from hitting the dog which later died at a veterinary facility.

A Facebook page dedicated to finding Veinotte says she was born in New Denmark, N.B., and has a home in Nova Scotia but was working at St. George's University.
