WINDSOR, Ont. — Police are warning parents that some deactivated cellphones are still capable of making emergency calls.
In Windsor, Ont., police say 911 dispatchers received more than 40 calls on Sunday from children playing with a deactivated smartphone.
They say all of the calls were from the same number.
They say many deactivated cellphones still have the ability to call 911.
Police are asking parents to keep this in mind when giving children old phones to play with and to teach them that 911 is only for emergencies.
