Police Crack Down On St. Patrick's Day Parties In Ontario

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 17 Mar, 2016 12:47 PM
The luck of the Irish wasn't with several university students hoping to get an early start on St. Patrick's Day festivities.

Police forces across Ontario reported breaking up parties and attending to minor incidents throughout the day despite numerous warnings to keep the celebrations under control.

London Police, who honoured the day with the social media hashtag #don'tinviteustoyourparty, report breaking up at least three parties before 3:00 p.m. ET.

In Kitchener, local police tweeted pictures of would-be partygoers smiling and posing with officers removing kegs from an early-morning celebration.

One local homeowner even helped officers remove the beer brought in for the day.

Police forces in Kingston, Hamilton and York Region have all indicated they'll step up street presence and increase RIDE spotchecks throughout the day.
