Police Charge Man With Aggravated Assault In Stabbing At Calgary Stampede Midway

The Canadian Press, 11 Jul, 2015 01:40 PM
CALGARY — A man has been charged in the stabbing of two people at the midway of the Calgary Stampede earlier this week.

Police say they were alerted to a fight early Thursday morning involving several individuals.

Two people were found with stab wounds — one was taken to hospital in critical condition and the other treated and released.

A third person with stab wounds was discovered following a foot chase off the Stampede Grounds.

Investigators believe it is this man who was responsible for stabbing the person who remains in critical condition.

Rinato Toy, who is 20 and from Calgary, faces one count of aggravated assault, one count of obstruction of justice and two counts of breaching a court order.

He is to appear in court on Thursday.
