  • Police charge B.C. man in relation to Calgary homicide

A man from British Columbia who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in relation to a murder that occurred last year in Calgary has been arrested and charged.

At approximately 1:10 p.m., on Friday, March 15, 2019, police were called to the Red Carpet Inn, located at 4635 16 Ave. N.W., for reports of a suspicious death. Upon arrival, the man was declared dead.

Following an autopsy on Monday, March 18, 2019, the victim was identified as Harry Vincent Jones, 66. People close to the victim knew him as Frank.

The investigation determined this incident to be a homicide. It is believed an altercation occurred in or around room 44 where the victim had been staying. It is also believed that this was a targeted event.

At the time of the homicide, police appealed to the public for assistance in hopes of obtaining information that would further the investigation. The investigation led police to believe the suspect was living in Kamloops, B.C. On Wednesday, July 8, 2020, Dale Topalinski, 58, of Kamloops, was arrested.

He is charged with one count of manslaughter in relation to the death of Jones. Topalinski will next appear in court on Thursday, July 16.
