Police Arrest Knife-Wielding Robber In Downtown Vancouver

    Vancouver Police arrested a robbery suspect in downtown Vancouver today.


    Police were called around 12:30 p.m. by staff at a retail store in the 800-block of Granville Street, after a suspect allegedly entered the store, tried to steal merchandise, and then pulled a knife.


    The suspect fled on a bicycle and was pursued by a VPD officer. The police officer was able to stop the fleeing suspect near Smithe Street and Expo Boulevard, and with assistance from passersby, took him into custody.

     

    The suspect complained of an injury following the arrest and was taken to hospital. No police officers, store staff, or bystanders were injured.

     

    The Independent Investigations Office is investigating. No additional information is available at this time.
