Police Arrest A Surrey Man For The Death Of A Saskatchewan Woman 30 Years Ago

    SURREY, Canada — Mounties in B.C. have arrested a man for the murder of a Saskatchewan woman almost 30 years ago.
     
    Police say 65-year-old Dennis Hahn was arrested Friday in Surrey, B.C., without incident and has been charged with first-degree murder and unlawful confinement.
     
    The charges are connected to the death of Frances Wendland, who police say was killed when two masked men entered her home on Dec. 14, 1985 in Rosthern, Sask.
     
    Three young girls who had been locked in the bathroom by the men managed to escape and found the woman dead.  
     
    Saskatchewan RCMP reopened the murder case in 2011 and say the investigation led to the arrest of Hahn.
     
    The man appeared in Saskatoon provincial court on Monday and is being held in custody until his next court appearance on July 27.
