PM Harper Tweets Inaccurate Picture Of NBAers During Canadian Basketball Night

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 19 Mar, 2015 02:10 PM

TORONTO — Prime Minister Stephen Harper shot an airball with a tweet Wednesday night.

A post from the prime minister's official Twitter account showed a picture of him with Canadian basketball stars Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett, both members of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Unfortunately, the tweet was mislabelled with Bennett instead being identified as Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry, an American.

"Pleased to meet Cda's top basketball talent @22wiggins & @Klow7 before @CanBball Night," read the tweet before it was deleted, and replaced with a corrected version. The official Twitter accounts of the Raptors and Timberwolves were also linked to the message.

Harper was in attendance for Wednesday night's game between Toronto and Minnesota as part of Canadian Basketball Night, a celebration of the sports' growing popularity in Canada.

Bennett and Wiggins are back-to-back No. 1 overall NBA draft picks and were playing together in Canada for the first time.

There are 12 Canadians in the NBA, the most of any nation outside of the United States.
