Pink Shirt Day must become a call to meaningful action against bullying

People across Canada are wearing pink today as a reminder to stand up against bullying.

Premier David Eby says progress against bullying has been made, but there’s still a lot of work to do because it remains a pervasive problem on social media.

Eby says they’ve seen the devastating effects of online bullying and harassment in the last year, with two boys taking their own lives after being sexually extorted.

The government has launched a series of actions to protect young people from online threats, including restricting the use of cellphones in classrooms starting in September

The launch of the services on Monday in conjunction with the Civil Resolution Tribunal comes on the same day the province's Intimate Images Protection Act comes into force.

The National Council of Canadian Muslims has cancelled a scheduled meeting today with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, saying there's no point in speaking with him.
