Peel Regional Police Arrest Darshan Dhaliwal Of Brampton For Fraud

    Investigators from the Fraud Bureau have arrested and charged a 42 year-old Brampton man for defrauding a female resident of the City of Brampton.
     
     
    In August 2017 the accused Darshan DHALIWAL met the victim and advised her that he would be able to double her money if she invested in him.
     
     
    Darshan DHALIWAL obtained a large quantity of money and jewelry from the victim and after not receiving anything in return the victim contacted Police.
     
     
    Darshan DHALIWAL, a 42 year-old male from Brampton was arrested and charged on Wednesday June 27, 2018 for Fraud over $5000.00. Darshan DHALIWAL was held for a Bail Hearing and will appear before an Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
     
     
    The approximate total of $74,000.00 in cash and jewelry was defrauded by Darshan DHALIWAL.
     
     
    Dhaliwal is arrested a third time in four years. He was earlier charged with fraud in a case of a ‘spiritual scam’.  He told a Brampton woman he won, and that he “had a lot of good luck as he was very close to God.
     
     
    The woman gave Dhaliwal a large amount of money, and later jewelry. Investigators have accused Dhaliwal of claiming that the money would be buried and he would then pray to remove evil spirits, which were also contained in the jewelry. The money and jewelry would then be returned to her.
     
     
    Investigators believe there may be further victims who have not come forward and are requesting they contact police.
