Pedestrian Succumbs To Injuries In Vancouver’s 13th Traffic-Related Death

Darpan News Desk , 08 Sep, 2016 01:16 PM
One of two pedestrians struck by a taxi cab last week on Hastings near Main Street, has now died.

At about 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31st, two men ran across Hastings Street and were hit by a taxi driver travelling west towards downtown Vancouver.

Both pedestrians were taken to hospital with various injuries. The driver remained at the scene and has been cooperative with police.

One of pedestrians, a 60-year-old Vancouver man, received minor injuries and has since been released from hospital. The other, a 42-year-old man also from Vancouver, received serious head injuries and was in intensive care in grave condition. He was pronounced dead yesterday.

The investigation into the collision is continuing, but speed and driver error are not believed to be factors.

This is Vancouver’s 13th traffic related death this year. Nine of those fatalities have been pedestrians.
