Kelowna R-C-M-P say it is investigating the death of a pedestrian along Highway 97.

Emergency health services were called to a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle along the highway and Burtch Road.

The R-C-M-P are advising drivers to avoid the area as a traffic reconstruction specialist works to investigate the incident. 

Police say the driver remained at the scene and co-operated with authorities.

Police and rescue teams hope a window of good weather will help the search for three mountaineers lost since Friday on Mount Garibaldi in British Columbia.
