Surrey RCMP is seeking information following a serious collision involving a pedestrian in Newton on Sunday evening.

On August 28th, just before 7:30 p.m., Surrey RCMP received a reported that a pedestrian, who had been crossing the street in a marked crosswalk, had been struck by a vehicle in the 7500-block of 140 Street. 

The pedestrian suffered significant life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team has taken conduct of the investigation and are working to determine the cause of the collision.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision and additional witnesses remained on scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or was in the area and has dash camera footage is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP.

Surrey RCMP received the report of shots fired at a taxi in a parking lot in the 14800 block of 108 Avenue. Police attended the scene and found both occupants of the vehicle shot. The passenger, a 30-year-old male died, and the driver of the taxi was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
